Riversimple, based in Monmouthshire, Wales is to start trials of its new two-seater, hydrogen powered car, the Rasa.
This lightweight vehicle is claimed to be able to deliver 250mpg and a 300 mile range from just 1.5kg of hydrogen.
The car uses a hydrogen cell that combines hydrogen with oxygen to form water and electricity. The electricity generated powers four motors that drive each of the cars wheels. The torque output is said to be 443lb ft which is quite remarkable. With just 18 moving parts in the drivechain the simplicity is stunning, 0-60 mph is 9.5 secs and top speed is 75mph.
