FCEV - Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles

This week Volvo have announced that is has scrapped its pledge to be all electric by 2030. And the reason was because the sale of electric vehicles is declining. They are more focused on the Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle which currently makes up 48% of their sales.

BMW on the other hand is looking towards hydrogen cars with an aim to launch a range of models from as early as 2028. To achieve this they are teaming up with Toyota for a collaboration to develop the FCEV – Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles which are powered by Hydrogen.

FCEV’s are interesting because the only emit water vapor and warm air. Toyota are working on a hydrogen combustion engine which is set to be fitted for the 2027 Le Mans 24 Hour.
